History

The Medal of Honour for Customs Officers was established on June 14, 1894 and is awarded to Customs Officers for 20 years of faithful service. It may be awarded in absence of this service requirement for exceptional acts of courage during service, or for success in uncovering criminal activities. In 1902 the Medal was extended to Customs Officers in Algeria. The Medal is currently awarded.

The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic,” and the reverse inscription translates to “General Direction of Customs, Honour, Devotion.”
