History

The Medal of Honour for Army Health Services was created on June 27, 1931, but it was later replaced by the Medal of Honour of Military Health Services on August 30, 1962.

It was awarded to Army healthcare workers for excellent service and devotion in periods without epidemics. The Bronze Medal was awarded for 10 years of service, the Silver Medal was awarded for 15 years of service, and the Gilt Medal was awarded for 20 years of service. The Gold Medal was only awarded under the most exceptional circumstances.

The obverse inscription translates to “French Republic,” and the reverse inscription translates to “Ministry of War, Devotion, Military Health Service.”

The Medal is listed in the Third Republic, the Fourth Republic, and the Fifth Republic.
