    History

Established by King Christian VI, this medal was originally instituted to award the advancement of agriculture in Denmark. Although most medals were awarded associated to that reason, as the years went on this medal was also awarded for more general reasons associated with agriculture, such as, long service, merit, and promotions of trade and industry.

Not all recipients had permission to wear the award.

The Silver Medal was instituted with two versions. The first version is larger in size, and recipients who received it have permission to wear the medal. The second version is smaller in size and recipients who received it did not have permission to wear the medal. The reverse of the medals consist of different inscriptions.
