Instituted in 1944. In silver, measuring 29 mm in diameter, suspended from a silver gilt with blue and white enamelled hanger with pinback, intact enamels, edge nicks, near extremely fine.
The Motherhood Medal was establihsed by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on July 8, 1944.
The II Class medal was awarded to mothers who gave birth to five children and raised them. It was only awarded when her last child reached one year, if all of her other children were alive. Approximately 8,000,000 were issued.
The II Class medal is made of silver with a dark blue and white enamel suspension.
The inscription on the reverse translates to "Medal of Motherhood".
