    Award Medal for the Peace with Turkey, 1791. Silver. Oval, 39.7 x 32 mm. Bit356 (R1), Diakov 225.8 (R2), Reichel 2838 (R2), Sm 322. Crowned cipher ofCatherine II / Four-line legend and year below. Toned, contact wear, good fine.

    History


    This medal was established during the reign of Catherine the Great to commemorate the signing of the Peace Treaty of Jassy between the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire.

    It was awarded to non-commissioned officers, petty officers, enlisted men, and sailors who served in the war against Turkey.

    The reverse inscription translates to: "to the Victors of the Peace of 29 December 1791".
