    History

The Order of Bravery, or Order of Courage, was established by Legislative Decree on July 20, 1964. The Order was originally conferred in 3 Classes to military personnel in recognition for bravery or courage on the battlefield or for acts of exceptional courage made in the public interest in the saving of life and property. In 1976, the Order was extended to award civilians and foreigners.

The II Class is awarded to Non-Commissioned Officers.

A bronze oak leaf emblem is authorized for wear on the ribbon to denote additional awards.
