Jordan, Kingdom. An Al-Hussein Order of Military Merit, II Class Commander, c.1980
(Wisam al-Istahaqaq al-Askari al-Husayniya). Instituted in 1976. Four-piece construction, three-piece insignia in silver gilt with red and white enamels, mounted to seven-pointed star base, each of the star points on the base with nine faceted rays, measuring 62 mm (w) x 61 mm (h), crazing evident in the white enamels on the tips of three of the seven star points on the insignia, on its original full-length neck ribbon, the hook having come away from its end of the ribbon and is resting in the eye at the other end, near extremely fine.
The Order of Military Merit (Wisam al-Istahqaq) was established by King Hussein in 1976 as an awarded for service in defence related matters. The Order is awarded in 5 Classes to members of the Jordanian Armed Forces in recognition of distinguished service. Civilian personnel who have demonstrated exceptional service in defending the nation may also be eligible for the award.
The II Class Grand Officer is worn from a neck ribbon and is conferred along with a Breast Star to brigadiers and generals.
