Physical Description and Item Details


(AKA Order of Independence) In silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, hallmarked and maker marked on the reverse cartouche, also hallmarked with the city of assay and silver standard mark on the reverse of the eagle suspension, measuring 56 mm (w) x 80.7 mm (h) inclusive of its eagle suspension, intact enamels, large rosette on its original ribbon, extremely fine.

History


The Order of Istiklal, or the Order of Independence, was established in 1955. The Order was presented to personnel who aided in the overthrow of the Monarchy and the establishment of the Republic. The Order was conferred in 3 classes, but it became obsolete in 1965.
