History

The Military Order of the Republic was instituted in 1953 and is associated with the Order of the Republic. The Order is composed of a sash badge and a breast star and is presented to military units and formations in recognition fo outstanding military achievement.

The Order is similar in design to the I Class Grand Cross Order of the Republic (see EGY110), but features the addition of a gold 5-pointed star superimposed onto the bottom arm of the medallion.

When the Order is awarded to a unit, the Medal is attached directly to the unit's flag.
