Badge in solid silver and enamels (marked "935” for silver content), and also numbered #7121; 22mm, in near mint condition.
The Badge was instituted on January 26th, 1942, and was conferred upon individuals who obtained the necessary II Class Glider Pilot’s certificate and had successfully completed an endurance flight of a minimum of five hours, or had flown in an altitude of at least 3,300 feet during the course of a single flight.
The Badge could be awarded to individuals who were not members of the N.S.F.K.
This Badge was an international award that corresponded to the silver badge of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale.
The reverse of each badge features the associated award number.
The Silver Badge has 3 wings and a silver wreath.
