Germany, Imperial. A Rare Honour Badge of the Germany Academy in München with Case
A seldomly offered badge of superior quality, featuring a straight arm elongated cross paty constructed of silver, the obverse arms are ribbed, the centre bears three green enamel oak leaves and three acorns, a white enamel border is superimposed on the cross arms and reads “DEVTSCHE-AKADEMIE MÜNCHEN” (GERMAN ACADEMY MÜNCHEN), the reverse is plain and bears a vertical striaght pinback with a round wire catch and is marked “930” indicative of the grade of silver, measuring 44.69 mm (w) x 57.16 mm (h), accompanied by a green fabric case, exterior lid embossed with gilt “Deutsche Akademie” (German Academy), with a push button latch, the interior is of black velvet material, measuring 95.35 mm (w) x 113.38 mm (h), very fine.
On May 5, 1925, the German Academy for the scientific research and care of Germanness
was founded. There are limited copies of the Honour Badge. The first recipient of the Honour Badge was President von Hindenburg. It was also awarded to the Bavarian Prime Minister Ludwig Siebert.
