The General Gau Honour Badge was awarded by the Brown House in Munich, which was the national headquarters of the Nazi Party in Germany. It was conferred upon individuals who served in the Nazi Party during the Kampfzeit or “Time of Struggle” when the Nazis struggled to gain political power.
It was the highest ranking Gau Badge as it was an official decoration at the National Party Level and not associated with a particular region, like the other Gau Badges.
The Badge was issued in two versions, known as the 1923 Gau Badge and the 1925 Gau Badge. The date of either 1923 or 1925 is featured on the obverse of the medallion.
