Members of the SS-Sicherheitsdienst (Security Service) were issued a trade insignia that was embroidered with the letters “SD”. The Officer rank insignia was produced out of black cloth and embroidered with aluminium wire. The insignia for Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and Enlisted Men (EMs) was manufactured out of black cloth and embroidered with silver-grey thread.
This insignia was also worn by SS members who were assigned to the SS-Hauptamt (Main Office).
