Constructed of black wool with a buckram core, trimmed with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping, pinned with a silvered bronze SS-Fliegersturm insignia, unmarked, measuring 40 mm (w) x 55 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
The SS Flying Company (SS-Fliegersturm) was established in November 1931 in Munich. In September of 1933, all SS flying units were transferred into the Deutsche Luftsportverband (DLV, German Air Sports Association).
Members used a right collar tab in the same design as that of SA flying units, but with a black cloth underlay. The tab features a metal cypher in the form of a winged double propeller blade.
The ranks of SS-Mann to SS-Obertruppführer wore collars tabs that were piped with twisted white cord, the ranks of SS-Sturmführer to SS-Sturmhauptführer wore collar tabs that were piped with alternating black and aluminium twist cord, and the ranks of SS-Sturmbannführer to SS-Obergruppenführer wore collar tabs that were piped with twisted aluminium cord.
