The Ordensburgen (order castles) were elite schools for Hitler Youth members who were destined to become part of the NSDAP elite. They were even more prestigious than the NPEA schools. There were four Ordensburgen: Krössinsee, Sonthofen, Vogelsang, and Marienburg. Approximately 1000 students and 500 staff were stationed at each school. Students were trained for a duration of one year.
There were four cuff titles of which each bore one of the names of the four Ordensburgen, while a fifth cuff title features the word "Ordensburgen" itself. This latter cuff title was probably worn by general staff members involved in the overall Ordensburgen educational system, but not necessarily stationed at one of the castles themselves.
It appears that initially, these cuff titles were black with silver letters, whereas at some point between 1937 and 1943 this was changed to silver on light brown/tan, and possibly even gold on light brown/tan.
