A single Tropical Pith Helmet Tri-Colour Cockade; constructed of lacquered bronze; with all prongs intact; maker marked “S&S” for “Schwerin & Sohn, Berlin” on the reverse; measuring 36.42 mm (w) x 42.47 mm (h); worn, but in overall near very fine condition.
On regular helmets the shield insignia were simply painted on. On the Pith Helmet however, they took the form of a badge that was affixed to the helmet.
The Tricoloured Shield shows the German national colours, black, white, and red.
