History

The Cockade & Oak Leaves Insignia shows the national cockade in red, white, and black. It is accompanied by a wreath of oak leaves surrounding it that is open at the top.

Insignia were either embroidered, or made of aluminum or other metals. Since January 1, 1943 caps for General ranks had gilt insignia.

The Cockade & Oak Leaves Insignia was usually complemented by the Eagle Insignia, and when one was embroidered, the other one was supposed to be as well, or both were supposed to be made of metal. However, a mixture of metal and embroidery was often worn, contrary to regulations.
