The Royal Air Force Levies Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was established by King George VI in 1948. The Silver Medal was awarded to locally commissioned Officers and men of the Royal Air Force Levies in Iraq, who were tasked with maintaining law and order, in recognition of 18 years of service. 12 out of the 18 years of service must have been exemplary. Approximately 309 Medals were issued until 1955 when the Royal Air Force withdrew from Iraq.
The Medal features a fixed suspension bar inscribed "ROYAL AIR FORCE LEVIES IRAQ"
There are 3 multiple versions of the Medal which differ by the obverse effigy of the ruling monarch.
