History

The Emergency Reserve Efficiency Medal was established by Queen Elizabeth II on September 1, 1953, to reward 12 years or more of service in the ranks. Service in the Supplementary Reserves between 1924 and 1948 before transfer to the Army Emergency Reserve was also eligible for the award of the Silver Medal. Service during wartime counted as double. The Medal was discontinued in 1967 following the introduction of the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve Medal.

The Medal features an "ARMY EMERGENCY RESERVE" suspension bar.
