A Dutch Cross for Order & Peace - 1945-49, In bronze, maker marked on reverse "Kon-Beger Voorschoten" & marked "FA. A. TACK BREDA" on ribbon support, 40 mm x 47 mm, original ribbon, light contact, very fine.

History


The Medal for Order and Peace was established by Royal Decree in 1947. It was awarded to military personnel in recognition of at least 3 months of service in the Dutch East Indies between September 3, 1945, and June 4, 1951. It could also be awarded posthumously.

Bronze clasps were awarded to signify the year in which the recipient had served, and include the following:
- "1945"
- "1946"
- "1947"
- "1948"
- "1949"
- "1950"
- "1951"

The Bronze Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Order, Peace." Approximately 100,000 medals were awarded.
