The Freikorps von Aulock Commemorative Badge was instituted at an unknown date, probably by the Freikorps' eponym Oberleutnant Hubertus von Aulock, but this is unknown, as is the award's designer. It was produced by Godet & Sohn in Berlin.
The award was made of copper and features a hollow reverse. It is vertically oval, consisting of an oak leaf wreath with a scroll at the top reading "10.12.1918", the date of the Freikorps' founding (December 10, 1918), and a larger scroll at the bottom that reads "FREIKORPS" on the left and "VON AULOCK" on the right. Superimposed over the lower half of the badge is a large chevron, the sleeve insignia of the Freikorps, of which the upper half features orange and the lower half white enamel. Superimposed over the chevron is the Hubertus emblem made up of a deer skull with antlers and a cross with a starburst on a square field above its head.
