History

The German Olympic Games Decoration was established on February 4th, 1936, to reward individuals who worked to organise the 11th Olympic Games, held in Berlin in August 1936.

The award was conferred in two classes, a I Class worn from a neck ribbon, and a II Class worn on a ribbon from the left breast. Both decorations are composed of white and gilt enamel.

The Decoration was awarded to both German men and women, and was also conferrable upon foreign citizens.

The I Class Award was issued 767 times, and the II Class was issued 3364 times.
