A finely pebbled George’s cross with a broad smooth edge, constructed of bronze. The obverse centre medallion is smooth and features the crowned intertwined monogram ‘WE’. The medallion ring features the circular inscription ‘VIGILANDO ASCENDIMUS’ (‘through vigilance we ascend’). The reverse is similar, except that the medallion is framed by an oak leaf wreath that is tied at the bottom by a ribbon, and features the inscription ‘FÜR DEUTSCHE TREUE’ (‘for German loyalty’). On a loop for suspension, on a green ribbon with an inner yellow and outer black side stripe on each side.
The Veteran Association's Honour Cross was instituted by Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst of Saxony on July 4, 1909. It was awarded to those who had provided meritorious service to maintain and support the work of veteran and military associations. The cross was awarded with an accompanying document. It had to be returned upon the death of the recipient.
