History

The Adolf Friedrich Cross was instituted by Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich VI and was conferred upon citizens of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who had rendered exceptional war-related service during the First World War. Such service included nursing, as well as work in war-related authorities and industries.

The cross was awarded to both men and women. Women wore the cross on a bow ribbon.

Due to the small population of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, only a small number of crosses were awarded.
