An ovular medal constructed of bronze. The obverse bears the bust of Prince Regent Luitpold encompassed by the inscription "LVITPOLD PRINZ REGENT VON BAYERN". The reverse bears a crowned shield of Bavaria with the inscription "IN TREUE FEST 1905". The medal is topped with a crown and an ornate arabesque detail with an oak leaf loop suspension.
The medal was established by Prince Regent Luitpold as a merit and commemorative medal. It was awarded with a certificate, which would be passed down to the recipient’s descendants.
In anticipation of his 90th birthday, the Prince Regent ordered the creation of the Gold Medal with Crown as a senior award. The award was no longer awarded after his death in 1912, and was issued for less than two years, making it quite rare.
