History

The War Medal 1814-1815 was founded by Duke Alexius of Anhalt-Bernburg on January 4, 1818. It was awarded to members of the armed forces of Bernburg, who fought against Napoleon during the Wars of Liberation.

In 1814, the Anhalt-Bernburg troops had a strength of 15 Officers and 494 soldiers. In 1815, there were 16 Officers and 509 soldiers. On November 21, 1817, the war commission summited a request from the Jäger Corps for an award for those who participated in the Wars of Liberation. On January 4, 1818, the stamps and the award were approved.

The stamp was produced by D. Loos, Berlin and cast by Philip Mothard, Berlin. Friedrich Bock, the royal purveyor, supplied the ribbon of the award.

The medal was worn suspended on a green ribbon with two broad white stripes and edgings.
