History

The Order is conferred upon Croatian and foreign nationals in recognition of their services and struggles in the name of national and social rights of the Croatian people.

This Order is named after Stjepan Radic who was a Croatian politician during the 19th century. He would be a fierce advocate for Croatian independence from Yugoslavia, which would end up getting him assassinated in the parliamentary building in 1928.
