History

The Medal of Reunification was instituted on October 12, 1815 by the Swiss Government. It was awarded to the members of four federal regiments, which were in the service of the French king and refused to fight for Napoleon Bonaparte, who had returned from exile in Elba.

The round medal is made of silver. The obverse shows the federal coat of arms with the inscription "SCHWEIZERISCHE EIDGENOSSENSCHAFT MDCCCXV".

The reverse-inscription "TREUE AND HONOR" is surrounded by an oak wreath.

The ribbon is white with wide red stripes on the left chest.
