History
The Medal for Lady Isidora Mora of S. Joaquin was authorized by the regency of Maria Christina on December 3, 1837. It was conferred upon the nun Isidora Mora of S. Joaquin in recognition of her courage and zeal during the absolute government of Ferdinand VII between 1823 and 1834.
Lady Isidora Mora of S. Joaquin was a supporter of the Liberal party in Spain, which recognized the Spanish Constitution of Cádiz of 1812. The absolutist party of Ferdinand VII abolished the constitution and reinstated the absolute monarchy.
The Medal features a reverse inscription that could be translated to "She Kept up the Ox-Head Flag, Governor Christina."
