History
The Order of the Yugoslav Crown was founded by King Alexander I in 1930 to commemorate the unification of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia on October 3, 1929, when the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes was reduced to this new realm.
The Order was conferred upon Yugoslavians and foreigners in recognition of meritorious civil and military service rendered to the King and Yugoslavia, for the country and the national unification.
The Order was regulated under the influence of the Légion d'honneur; it was authorized with five classes on a single-colored ribbon.
The Order was abolished along with the capitulation of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1941.
There was a first model used for a short period of time which did not feature the surmounted oak wreath. In November 1930 the oak wreath was added. There are several second-models on the market which the oak wreath were removed to resemble the first model; caution is required due to the rarity of the first model.
