The medal was conferred in commemoration of the signing of the Hunkar Iskelesi Treaty in 1833 between Russia and the Ottoman Empire.
The obverse features the cypher of Sultan Mahmud II, and is dated "1249". The reverse features Arabic script, which reads as "Hilal ve 8 Koseli Yildiz 1833".
