Type II. (1945-1968 Issue). A silver badge consisting of a silver sunburst design culminating in a central yellow enamel disc, with a red enamel banner waving along the bottom half, a silver gilt emblem on top of the ribbon featuring a laurel wreath, wheat, and the hammer and sickle emblem, with the inscription RPR (Romanian People’s Republic) in a red enamel banner, reverse presents a single vertical pin assembly, pin impressed ‘6’, measures 44.04mm (w) x 45.90mm (h), weighs 38.8grams, enamels fully intact, light contact marks, very fine condition.
The Order of Labour was conferred upon Romanian civilians in recognition of excellent achievements in labour, which could include the increase of production quotas or the introduction of new and productive methods or technologies. It was permanently suppressed following the collapse of the Socialist Republic in 1989.
Recipients of the II Class Breast Star were granted a monetary award of 1500 lei (375 USD) and three additional days of paid leave.
There are two models of the II Class Breast Star. The first, awarded during the Romanian People’s Republic from 1948-1965, features the obverse inscription “RPR,” and the second, awarded during the Romanian Socialist Republic, features the obverse inscription “RSR.”
There may be additional versions of the II Class Breast Star that differ in composition.
