The Decoration for Meritorious Trade and Services was established by the Council of Ministers in 1966 and revised in 1973. It was awarded by the Minister of Internal Trade to employees of state cooperatives and other bodies of domestic and internal trade in recognition of devoted, moral, and otherwise meritorious service. From 1973-1989 it was awarded for a minimum of ten years of service and could be awarded multiple times to the same recipient. It was later discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989.
There are two versions of the Gold Decoration that differ in inscription. The first has an obverse inscription that translates to "Meritorious Trade Worker," and the second has an obverse inscription that translates to "Meritorious Trade and Services Worker."
