    History

The Medal of the Macedonian Struggle was awarded to all those who took part in the struggle to free Macedonia from Turkish oppression between 1903 and 1909. It was awarded in three classes, which were distinguished by a ribbon clasp.

There are two versions of this Medal. The first version features a reverse inscription that translates to "Greek Republic 1931." The second version, instituted in 1935 following the restoration of the Monarchy, features a reverse inscription that translates to "Kingdom of Greece 1936." It also differs slightly in engraving due to having been recut. Both versions feature an obverse inscription that translates to "Macedonian Struggle 1903-1909."
