History

The Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana was established by President Lennart Meri in 1995 to honour the independence of Estonia. It is conferred upon foreigners who have rendered outstanding services to Estonia and may be awarded posthumously.

The II Class Cross is identical to the III Class Cross, however only the II Class Cross is worn with a Breast Star.
