History


This Medal is primarily awarded as a military award for heroic acts in combat, but it may also be conferred upon civilians who risk their own life and safety to save other human lives.

The obverse inscription translates to "For Heroism."

The Medal was awarded in two main versions.

The Medals awarded from 1900-1992 feature the emblem of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on the reverse medallion. Also, when this version of the Medal was awarded to military personnel a crossed swords device was added to the ribbon.

The Medals awarded from 1994-onward feature the emblem of the Czech Republic on the reverse medallion.
