A 1939 Second War Czechoslovakian Bravery Medal
In bronze gilt, 33 mm x 46.3 mm inclusive of its linden leaves suspension, original ribbon with dual prong pinback, contact marks on the reverse, scattered gilt wear, very fine.
This medal was founded by the Czechoslovak government in exile, and it was conferred upon personnel within the Armed Forces of Czechoslovakia that had demonstrates bravery in the face of the enemy during World War II.
The medal was awarded with three minor variations.
The medals issued first were produced in London from 1940-1945, and they have examples of an obverse inscription with and without an accent over the "T" in the word "CHRABROSŤ ."
The medals issued second were produced in Prague after 1945, and they have larger letters in the obverse and reverse inscriptions.
The obverse inscription translates to "For Bravery."
The reverse inscription translates to "Truth Prevails 1939."
