Three-piece construction, in silver gilt with red enamels, maker marked "ZUKOV", hallmarked with a goat's head beside a "2" (925 silver), marked "925" (silver), maker marked and numbered "509" on the reverse of the suspension, measuring 42 mm (w) x 61.3 mm (h) inclusive of its linden leaves and sword suspension, original ribbon, missing its pinback, intact enamels, very light contact, near extremely fine.
This Order was conferred upon Czechoslovak citizens, including civilians, Military personnel and groups, and Ministry of the Interior personnel.
It was awarded in recognition of heroic deeds, meritorious actions that bolstered the state's defenses, for outstanding leadership, and for demonstrated bravery and dedicated against the enemies of Czechoslovakia.
This Order was also awarded to high ranking Military and Ministry personnel, such as Generals and Officers, for 20 years of long and dedicated service.
There are two main versions of the Order.
The stars awarded from 1955-1960 feature a rearing lion on the reverse medallion.
The stars awarded from 1960-1989 feature the rearing lion from the 1960 Czechoslovak coat of arms on the reverse medallion.
The reverse of the star's suspension is numbered.
