This Order was founded as a military decoration to recognize Czechoslovakian Military personnel, and foreigners, for personal bravery and leadership rendered during World War II, especially for service that led to the liberation of the Czechoslovak Republic.
The I Class Gold Star was awarded to high ranking Military personnel such as senior Unit Commanders and Chiefs of Staff.
The Order was discontinued on December 31, 1992.
