History

This Order is associated with the Order of Scanderbeg that was conferred during the Kingdom of Albania and the People's Republic of Albania.

This modern iteration of the Order is awarded to foreign and Albanian citizens to recognize significant contributions to the development of Albanian defence and international interests.

The recipients of the Order may be proposed by the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of Parliament.

The Order is also known as the George Kastrioti Skandberg Order.
