In silver gilt with well executed red enameled feathering highlighted by delicately hand painted bordering, centre in silver gilt with green and blue enamels, marked on ring 800 and 66|TU, reverse with E.Gardino back plate, measuring 37x45mm (inclusive or horizontally pierced suspension ball), fine example with superior detailing, extremely fine.
This Order was instituted by King Zog I during his tenure as President. The Order was awarded to Albanians and foreign civilians in recognition of distinguished services, within any civil or military field, that benefited the Crown.
There were originally four grades, but during the Italian Occupancy (1939-1943) the Officer grade was officially added to the Order.
The Order was named after George Scanderbeg, an Albanian national hero.
The Type II awards feature fasces and the motto "FERT" on the obverse medallion.
