Physical Description and Item Details


India, Bahawalpur. A Golden Jubilee Medal 1907-1956, 2nd Class

Tamgha-e-Jashan Ahad Hukumat Panjah. Instituted in 1955. In bronze, measuring 36.8 mm in diameter, original ribbon suspended from an ornate hanger with pinback, identification label in German affixed to the reverse of the ribbon, edge nicks, bruised, very fine.

History


The Gold Jubilee Medal (Tamgha-e-Jashan Ahad Hukumat Panjah) was instituted by Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan V Abbasi in 1955 to commemorate 50 years of his accession to the throne. Interestingly, the award was struck 10 years after Bahawalpur's succession to Pakistan. The Medal is awarded in 3 Classes.

The II Class is composed of Bronze.

The obverse features an Urdu inscription which translates to "By the Grace of God Sadiq Mohammed Abbasi V Ruler of God Gifted Kingdom of Bahawalpur", while the reverse features an Urdu inscription which translates to "Celebration 50 Years Reign 1325-1375 Hijri."
