History


This medal was conferred in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of India's independence. It was awarded to Armed Forces personnel, and members of the Paramilitary Forces and Police Forces who served on August 15, 1972.

The obverse Hindi inscription translates to "Truth Alone Prevails", which is the Indian motto.
