History

The Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal was established by the Secretary of the Army by DA General Orders on March 3, 1971. The Bronze Medal is awarded to any enlisted member who is the rank of colonel or below of the National Guard or the United States Army Reserves for exemplary conduct, efficiency, and fidelity over 4 years of continuous meritorious service. In 1995, the eligibility period was reduced to 3 years of service.

Bronze and silver oak leaf emblems may be worn on the ribbon to denote additional awards of the Medal.

There are different versions of the Medal for the National Guard and the Army Reserve, which vary by the reverse inscription.
