The Navy Superior Civilian Service Award is awarded to civilian employees of the Department of the Navy in recognition of exceptionally high contributions to the Navy. Service must be of a lesser degree than that which is required to merit the award of the Navy Distinguished Civilian Service Award, but which is still highly significant. Innovative leadership and management, important accomplishments and achievements, scientific or technical advances, efforts in cost savings, and other services which benefit the Department of the Navy are eligible for the award. Acts of heroism may also be eligible for the award.
