The Dominican Campaign Medal was established by Navy Department General Order on December 29, 1921. The Bronze Medal was instituted in commemoration of the 1916 United States invasion of the Dominican Republic and awarded to Navy and Marine Corps personnel in recognition of service ashore in Santo Domingo or on board 1 out of 24 vessels serving in Dominican waters between May 5 and December 4, 1916. Approximately 3,700 Medals were awarded to Navy personnel and 2,700 Medals were awarded to members of the Marine Corps.
There are 2 versions of the Medal which differ by reverse inscription according to the name of the service.
The Medal is stamped on the rim with the serial number.
