History

The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal was established by President Franklin Roosevelt by Executive Order on November 6, 1942, as 1 out of 3 Theatre of Operation campaign medals for American troops during the Second World War. The Bronze Medal was awarded to Armed Forces personnel in recognition of service in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operation between December 7, 1941, and November 8, 1945. Service in permanent assignment within the Theatre of Operation or temporary duty within the Theatre for 30 consecutive or 60 nonconsecutive days was eligible for the award of the Medal. Personnel who were awarded a combat decoration while involved in active combat against the enemy were also eligible for the award.

A bronze star emblem was worn on the ribbon to denote participation in one or more operations or engagements. A silver star was worn in lieu of 5 bronze stars. An arrowhead emblem, for wear on the ribbon, was awarded in recognition of participation in a beach or ambitious airborne landings.

There may be additional versions of the Medal inscribed with Arabic numerals.
