In pickled brass, voided, measuring 51 mm (w) x 45.2 mm (h), horizontal pinback, extremely fine.

History


This badge was worn by members of the 248th Infantry Battalion.

The Battalion was raised in Central Ontario with mobilization headquarters at Owen Sound under the authority of G.O. 48, May 1, 1917. The Battalion sailed June 2, 1917 under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.H. Rorke with a strength of 13 officers and 259 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 48th Reserve Battalion. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
