Breast Star: insignia in silver with green enamels, mounted to a ten-pointed star base, with seven faceted rays between each star point, hallmarked with a boar's head on the catch, hallmarked with a boar's head and maker marked "A.B. & Co" (Arthus Bertrand) on the pin, measuring 86.3 mm (w) x 82 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, intact enamels. Extremely fine.
This Order was conferred upon Lieutenant-General or above. It may have been awarded for gallantry.
This Order was initially awarded in a single class instituted by Mustafa Pasha Bey in 1835. In 1843, it was reorganized by Ahmad Pasha Bey, and expanded in 1847. Finally, it was reorganized by Muhammad as-Sadiq Pasha Bey in 1861.
