History

This Order was established by King Hassan II in 1976. It replaced the senior classes of the Sharifian Order of Military Merit. This Order is a direct descendant of the Order of the Military.

The Knight is conferred in recognition of gallantry during security operations or law and order. It is awarded to Non-Commissioned Officers, soldiers, and members of the police force and auxiliary forces.

The Knight class was limited to 5000 recipients.
